Best players of Liga SudAmericana round 7 (by Hoops Agents)

American Davaunta Thomas (196-G-1995) put on an amazing game in the last round for Sport Club Corinthians Paulista and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 7.
The 30-year old guard had the game-high 30 points adding seven rebounds and two assists for Corinthians in his team's victory, helping them to beat Alvarado (#10, 0-1), the league's bottom-ranked team in overtime 96-89. The game was not the highest importance and did not have significant influence on top of the standings. Thanks to this victory Corinthians moved-up to the 11th position in Liga SudAmericana. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Corinthians won just one (their first) game. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. In the team's last game Thomas had a remarkable 54.5% from 2-point range. He turned to be Corinthians' top player in his first season with the team. The University of Arkansas Fort Smith graduate has very impressive stats this year. Thomas is league's best scorer averaging so far 30.0ppg. Thomas is in league's top in and averages solid 54.5% FGP. Worth to mention Thomas played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young Argentinian point guard Andres Lugli (188-PG-1995) of IMP Alvarado. Lugli impressed basketball fans with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Bad luck as Alvarado lost that overtime game 89-96 to slightly lower-ranked Corinthians (#11, 1-0). The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. Alvarado dropped in the standings to 10th position. 1 lost games are too many considering they did not win any game. Lugli is a newcomer at Alvarado and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 19.0ppg (#6). His other stats are also decent: 8.0rpg and 7.0apg.

The third best performed player last round was Theo Metzger (200-C-1999) of Defensor Sporting Club Montevideo (#12). Metzger scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Despite Metzger's great performance the Defensor lost 76-78 to the league's current leader Quimsa (#9, 1-0). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The season just started for Metzger as he played only first game. But it already looks like he can be team's leader.
